The purpose of the network conferences is not to conduct specialised discussion in the areas chosen; rather, their aim is to make the results of specialized research in all relevant disciplines broadly known, to put them in relation to one another, and to discuss models for a general assessment of the epoch with respect to the theme of each conference.
